Excellent story! I am always amazed at how people come to being a librarian. Unlike many professions, it seems to be a different reason for each person. For me, I had always loved libraries and wanted to do it, but could not afford Grad School. I did finance undergrad, got a good job that eventually funded grad school. I quit that job to become a reference librarian, loved it and knew I was happier doing this work than anything I had ever done. Then reality hit--that there simply are zero jobs of Public Library Reference Professionals in NJ (unless of course you can pay your bills on part-time salary and have a spouse to provide you with health care).

So I am back on track to return to finance. My MLIS has made me a better researcher, but sadly not a librarian.
