		<description>#1 has always made me wonder. Do people do due diligence when setting something up? When I started the Friend of a Friends group wiki, I wondered if I was duplicating an effort. I can understand if there are groups that have similar purpose but work in different parts of the world, but when there is overlap, I wonder who that helps with the redundancy. 

#2, I wish I had an answer for that. I think people block out what is so overwhelming and constant versus something like a natural disaster which, at the end of it, can have a resolution where people go back to &#039;life as normal&#039;. There will always be homeless people, those who refuse the aid of society, and just eek out a life on their own terms. I&#039;m often baffled at our altruism abroad and our stinginess at home.</description>
