my first earthquake

5.8 in Virginia. August 23, 2011. That was awesome. (But you better believe I won’t be taking the tunnel on the way home tonight. B’more doesn’t know how to build for these things.)

I really think you need to flesh this out with a short synopsis of the event. How close do you have to be to the event for it to count? I probably have all of them, but… Do you have to see lava for the volcano to count, or is bubbling sulpher pits good enough? How about the wild fire, do you have to be within yards of the flames or is half a mile good enough? Inquiring minds want to know.

    1) the chimes above my desk at work were a-ringin’

    2) you have to be *in* the event or actually experiencing it for it to count.

    3) need lava. :-)

    4) dunno how *you’d* count for the fire, but we drove through wildfire (away from it) in CA. Close enough for me. All the rest on my list i’ve sat through. Also, i wouldn’t recommend experiencing bad hurricanes or nor’easters while in a 100 year old house 250ft from the Atlantic.
