ALA Emerging Leaders (or how I changed the world)

Okay, so the title is a little dramatic but I’m very excited to announce that this morning I got an email congratulating me on my acceptance into the 2008 ALA Emerging Leaders Program!

YAY! Well, okay- in reality I’m too excited about my move next weekend to have any excitement left over for anything else, but this will be next in line for me to be excited about. :-)

I do have one concern however- part of the whole thing is to be “ready to commit to serve on an ALA, Division, Chapter, or Round Table committee, taskforce or workgroup upon completion of program” (Leslie Burger). I’m okay with that, but I wonder if my current two year term (that just started at the end of Annual in D.C.) with the RUSA Reference Services Section Cooperative Reference Committee, as the liaison to the RUSA RSS Virtual Reference Committee counts towards this or if I’ll have to get involved with more. (I’m assuming it will count because if anyone should learn about not spreading yourself too thing, it should be emerging leaders).
