8 things

I’ve been tagged for the 8 things meme.

What to do

Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. I am brand-loyal to Skippy Reduced Fat Peanut Butter and Q-tips. I will not wear ANYTHING with a designer / brand name scrawled across the front, back, or side (i.e. sweatshirts that scream “OLD NAVY” or tees with the Nike swoosh).

2. I enjoy, and have a long history with, making up words. Fomogasy is a family word passed down from my father’s father. It’s meaning is relative and highly versitile.

3. As the offspring of a gadget geek (and engineer), I suffer from gadgetlust and technocraze. I’m trying to get it under control. There should be a clinic for this. Until then, I will continue to sign up for things online (flickr, library thing, art conspiracy) and try to finagle my money around to afford things like the Treo, another iPod, and the Segway.

4. I am anal about locking doors and end up frequently locking myself out of my car.

5. I believe
a) it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission
b) the harder you work, the luckier you are

6. My first (and last) pet’s name was Socrates. (Soc for short). He was a $0.12 goldfish that lived a long and happy life. Although he may have mistaken me for food, he liked to nibble (kiss?) my pinky finger. I miss Soc.

7. The state of my fingernails is an excellent tell for how my life is going at that moment. Mangled and bitten – i’m not in a good place. Long but semi dishevled – i’m doing good. Manicured and/or long – Life is zen.

8. I own more books than I’ve finished reading. I am always reading more than one book at a time. I am currently reading Dirt, Making Quality Happen, Wikinomics, Freakonomics, and The Laws of Simplicity. This (and my buying habits) may stem from the fact that when I was a kid I was never restricted on how many books I could buy when we went to the bookstore. I remember one instance when i was young, standing in the YA section with an arm full of Ghostwriter books asking my Dad, “Are you sure I can get ALL these?”

I hesitated and Library Garden has already been tagged so I tag:
Tina
Latiesha
Klu
Jim
(i’m aware that’s not 8).

  1. Hey Strange Librarian,

Don’t be so strange…gitaKLU and then you’ll be able to answer all of life’s questions…most importantly, you won’t have to worry about reading all the books you have. Not sure what the “tag” issue is but I thought it would be nice to leave you a message anyway. Take Care.
